Lake Placid, New York - it's worth the drive

As a skier, I had heard of Lake Placid, New York many years ago when the Winter Games of the Olympics were held there in 1980. I recall watching the Games on TV, especially when Team USA won that fantastic hockey game called “Miracle on Ice,” against the Soviet Union.
I had the opportunity to travel to Lake Placid last week to attend a meeting of Eastern Ski Writers Association (ESWA). Although it was a very long drive, my mood changed as soon as I drove through town towards my hotel... (more)
